Getting There

where you take the tram from Geneva airport to the other train station in Geneva, take a local train to Cluses, then take a connecting bus up to Morzine, which stops at the Office du Tourisme in the middle of Morzine township.

•    Cycle – picturesque, but a bit of a slog; taking luggage this way would strike us as somewhat unfeasible! However, if you are determined to minimise your carbon footprint in this way and you have some suitable touring pannier bags, we’d recommend the route that takes you round the lake to Thonon-les-Bains, then

There are various ways of getting to and from Morzine.  Assuming you take a flight to Geneva, you can:

•    Hire a car and drive (see the "Car Rental" section above for contact details, or try the car rental brokers over the net who buy in bulk and on-sell, which is often a cheaper way to do it). Morzine is about an hour’s drive away depending on the route you take – see directions to Morzine by clicking the "Driving" link above.

•    Take public transport; there is a fairly time-consuming route  follow the signs up through the valley to Morzine.  This is a very picturesque journey, particularly when you head up through the tree-lined gorge, but of course you’ll need to be pretty confident of your fitness levels to get up there.  To cut it a bit shorter you could take the train from Geneva to Thonon-les-Bains and bike up from there.

•    Taxi – a bit of an expensive option but it might make sense if you’ve got a few people who can share a cab. There are some local taxi companies.  Try +33 609 447 632.

•    Minibus – there are lots of Chalet owners and holiday companies transferring passengers between Morzine and Geneva and connecting with flights in and out of Geneva.  Often there is a spare seat or 2 in these minibuses. Try the Notice Board section if this sounds like what you’re after.

Alternatively www.morzexpress.com offers shared airport transfers from Geneva Airport direct to your accomodation in Morzine, Les Gets and the Avoriaz cable car, for €25 per seat.  Powdercab www.powdercab.com also offer private or shared transfers.
